Wow what have I learned in this class. I have to say I have learned a lot. The formats taught have been great overall. I learned how to write more out of something really short. To be able to do this I used the old-new information format. This was and is becoming really essential when writing my papers. Mostly since I have learned that most teachers are page counters and when they say write four pages they mean it.
There are times when it can be written in about just two pages but the teachers want it in four pages. With the old-new information format it is so easy to get to four pages. It just happens automatically when you have really learned it. Yea it takes a while to get the hang of it but it is not as hard as some people many think it is. Although this varies from person to person.
Another thing I have learned to do is how to do the TS/CD. This has been one of the most important and interesting ways to format a paragraph. Before learning how to do this I never knew where I had to cite the information that was not mine. With this format it is so easy to know where everything goes. I think this is really going to be useful for the rest of my writing career. Although I will not be able to teach this to my pre-school students (when I become a pre-school teacher) since they don’t have capacity to learn this.
I feel better about my writing now that I have taken this class. I don’t see myself as such a bad writer anymore. I think I have improved through the semester. I think you have done a good job at teacher us these techniques. BTW my shoe sizes is a four :) i have really tinny feet :) hahaha

I found an ad on skin lotion. I liked this ad because I used that type of lotion most of the time. I wanted to purchase what was on this ad because it said that your skin would be really soft and silky. I think we all want skin that everyone wants to touch.
I didn’t really understand the appeals. I think it was too much to read and my brain just didn’t want to read it although I did read it. Most of the information just slipped my head. I think it would have been better if we went over it in class more. Just to clarify what each appeal meant.
Overall I think this essay was the hardest one to write. It just didn’t seem interesting. I don’t think were used to having to think about what type of appeal it is. We just look at it and if we like the product we buy it there really isn’t much to it.

I think that over all I did very well during the class time period. I understood about everything that was taught. It gave me a better understanding in how to be a better writer. I learned how to comprehend, analyze, and articulate the papers that I read and wrote in response to the reading.  It is key to comprehend what you are reading because if you don’t then it is hard to write a response. In fact you don’t just have to analyze what you are reading you have to analyze what you write to help you become a better writer.
As the time passed I learned several skills such as the old information- new information strategy. This helped not only to clarify what the point of the writing but also to help make it longer. Let’s not forget that most teachers are page counters. Another skill that I learned was how to do the TS/CD which helped me develop the paragraphs easily. This also helped me by showing me exactly where I need to cite the information that is not mine.
Although I have improved my writing I think that I still have to improve my grammar. The packets did help and a lot but I still have some difficulties. With time and effort I am sure I will get the hang of it. Another difficulty was staying on task with the length of the articles that we had to read I got tired really easy. So I came up with a plan of reading a couple pages at a time and taking a break. It not only keeps my on topic but it helped me analyze what I was reading.
Overall I think that I used the techniques taught during class. Of course there are some that I will use throughout my life. On the other hand there are some that I will never look at in my life. No offence but some of them were really boring or just to complicated.

My resume is going pretty good. Although I don’t have as much information as I wanted to have. I’m not sure if I have to list all the school that I been too or just a few of them. I think I have a few good things that will pop out for my future employer. I’m still working on it at the moment. There is really not much to say about it.

Humor to me is being able to make someone laugh. Maybe even just putting a smile in someones eyes. Its depends on who your writing to to make them laugh or even smile. There are different types of people, those who laugh about the smallest things and those who take awhile to find something that will make them laugh. Humor can come in different forms such as reading about something funny, watching something funny, or saying something funny.
The article we read about the man who called 911 was funny in my point of view. This humored me because it was just plain stupid to call 911 in a case of stealing someones cocaine. That is a form of humor that can make anyone laugh.
When i think of style, i think about the way a paper is written. Whether its in mla style or not. The different types of styles varies from one person to another. Many people can think of the way some look and dresses as soon as they hear the word style. This again depends on the individual.

Comparing and contrasting the articles was a lot easier then the past essays. This was because you could us the TS/CD format to set up the essay. The TS/CD was easy to use but it was also easy to use the old information/new information format. Using both of the formats helped make the essay flow well. By using the old information/new information it’s filled in the blanks that the essay had.
Although it was easy to write it, there was a difficult part. The difficult part was in getting it started. I really didn’t know how to get it started but after I got it started the essay was easier to write. I think that the introduction is the hardest part of writing a paper but after that it’s not so hard after all.
Overall I think doing a comparing and contrast essay is a bit easier than any other essay. Mostly when you have a clear understanding of what you’re comparing and contrasting. At the end it depends on the writer and who the writer’s audience is.

Writing about three articles wasn’t that hard to do. What I did to help not make it so hard was to find articles that related to each other. Also being interested in the articles played a key role in making the task easier for me. If I’m interested in the articles I’ am more aware of what I am readying. All three articles interested me because of how they agreed and disagreed on the topic.
The hard part was citing. Them not on the actual paper but on the works cited page. I’m still trying to learn how to use the owl page to help me cite them. It has made it easier because I realized that I would cite my things too long.
Another thing that helped me while writing about the three articles was the TS/CD. It gave me the ability to make the articles flow together. Also because it helps me write about my own opinion in a way that you don’t exactly see that my opinion is given. Over all this paper wasn’t that hard to write since I have found several ways to make it easier for me.

The essay compared to the in class writing diagnostic was much easier. This was because we had time to prepare for it. In the writing diagnostic we didn’t have time to prepare for it. It made it harder and more stressful since we had not much prior knowledge about it. Also in the writing diagnostic we didn’t have enough time to clear up our ideas. In this essay we were able to take our time writing it. Giving us more time to think about the best way to summarize and put in our own words what we had read.
We were able to choose what article to reflect upon. Whether we understood what we read was more on our part because we choose that article. Choosing the article was good because we were able to pick something of our own interest. This made reading a lot easier and even a little bit faster since we liked what we were reading.
Although I like what I was reading I think I should have read over it more then once, to get a better understanding on the topic of the book. There were some words that I didn’t understand. Making it harder for me to summarize the article. Something else that I would have done differently would be to have someone else proof read it before I handed it in.
The only other source I used was my prior knowledge in writing and summarizing. I did use the notes we took in class to help myself guide myself in the process of writing the article. They helped me to lay out the information in order and to help the reader understand what I wrote.

Blog Number 2

The essay we had to do in class was a little difficult because we didn’t have enough preparation. Writing for me is also difficult because it’s not my first language. Being from another country makes it difficult to translate what I want to say. Sometimes I know exactly what I won’t to write in Spanish but then translating it into English gives it a totally different meaning. It is difficult to write exactly what you want from one language to another.

I don’t like to write on the spot. I feel pressured doing that. While being pressured my brain tends to shut down and I forget about what I just wrote and about what I’m suppose to write about.  I also don’t like to write on the spot because my vocabulary isn’t as advanced as others when I write papers or just read them. There are some words that I still don’t understand when reading the instructions to the paper. This is a key factor when deciding if I am a good writer or not.

There are times when I can be a very good writer depending on the situation. If I have time to write and if I have prior knowledge about the topic my writing strengths are greater. I am able to research about the topic a learn more about it making it easier for me to write. I enjoy writing a lot but like I stated before it all depends on the time and place in which I am writing.

Blog # 1: Rhetorical Situations and Genres

To be honest I don’t really have prior knowledge about these two concepts. I often have heard about them, especially about genres. The prior knowledge that I have would be that whenever you are writing you have to think about your audience or whomever it is that’s going re hearing or reading it. After reading about the topic, I learned that in rhetorical situations you have to consider several factors such as the purpose, your audience, a particular stance, a genre and a medium.

Also while reading these selections I learned that the word genres indicates to the type of writing whether it’s a literacy, narrative, analyzing texts or an argument.

To help my writing I want to incorporate the rhetorical situations because it brings more clarity to someone’s writing. Although I didn’t really get the genres topic I want to learn more to help improve my writing. To be able to attract my audience to read more about what I write.

These selections were informative because it helps you develop peoples writing. While writing you are able to focus more on what you already know and then develop what you don’t know. Knowing the factors of a rhetorical situation you are more likely to attract your audience attention because you know how to state your purpose better and also you will think about the type of audience you are directing yourself to. Being able to identify the type of audience you have is very important.

To conclude I found this selections very interesting although it was difficult to stay focus on something that you aren’t used to reading.
